hi

anyone used a doula before - what was it like - im think about it but concerned about not being able to have any pain relief if im at home for the first part of labour...but dont want to be in a public ward for ages without my husband either so woudl rather be at home...any suggestions?

Read about doulas on the DONA website.
First part of labour isn't painful, per se. Learn the Lamaze breathing technique and you will feel less pain.
