apple tv

i download programs in HD + trasnfer DVDs and watch them on my video ipod. if i want to watch them on my tv, does the apple tv work here?
logically it should work but just thought i check with someone who has it.

I have an easier and cheaper solution. Buy a new DVD player that support mpeg and avi formats. These new dvd players have slots for accepting memory cards....just transfer the movie to the card and pop it into the DVD player and away you go.
